Grace Fisk swiftly looked forward to ‘kicking on’ after Liverpool FC Women won 4-1 away at Aston Villa at the weekend.

The Reds impressed on the road in Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Super League clash, with the three points taking their tally for this term (25) past their total for the whole of last season (23).

Fisk opened the scoring against Villa with her first goal for the club, and Sophie Roman Haug and Emma Koivisto – with two – glossed the result.

“Obviously we’re really happy to get three points on the board, that was the main aim,” Fisk reacted post-match at Poundland Bescot Stadium.

“Scoring four goals is obviously nice for us as well. It gives confidence to everyone.

“Gutted about [losing] the clean sheet but they were in the game for large spells of it; 4-1 is obviously a flattering scoreline potentially, but we took our chances and overall we definitely deserved the win.”

Liverpool now sit level on points with fourth-placed Manchester United in the WSL table, while they have an Adobe Women’s FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester City to come on Saturday at Prenton Park.

Asked about the team’s objectives between now and the end of the campaign, Fisk said: “We all sat down in pre-season and sort of laid out what we wanted for the season ahead, and it was definitely pushing on from last season, making sure we didn’t settle and be content with where we are.

“Pre-season was a really tough pre-season and I think you could see [the impact of] that from the beginning of the season.

“So, [it’s] kicking on in this second half [of the season] and really making sure to keep getting points.”

On the goal of trying to reach the final of the Women’s FA Cup, she added: “That would be amazing. It’s the last [cup] competition we’re left in now so we want to go full throttle with it.

“Leicester are obviously a really tough side, we have played them in the Conti Cup and played them in the league and we know they are a team with a lot of threat.

“They tend to score a lot of goals but potentially concede, so it could be quite an interesting match. Both teams obviously want to progress as much as possible.

“Definitely at Liverpool we are looking to get to the final and hopefully get some silverware.”
