ReactionGareth Taylor's verdict on Durham win: 'I'm really pleased with the girls'
Gareth Taylor was pleased with Liverpool's 'strong' 2-1 victory away at Durham in the Subway Women's League Cup on Thursday night.
The Reds made it two wins from two in the group stage thanks to an 86th-minute finish from Sam Kerr at Maiden Castle.
Ceri Holland, who came on to replace the injured Sophie Roman Haug, opened the scoring midway through the first half with a long-range strike.
The hosts then levelled direct from a corner but Kerr popped up with the late winner in the final game prior to October's international break.

On the result...
Really pleased with the girls. I thought they really stuck to the process tonight of the way we work, against a difficult pressing side in Durham, who became really, really aggressive after the first five or 10 minutes. [The pitch] is a real leveller and not easy to play on, but the girls managed the game really well.
On the goals scored...
We had quite a few opportunities tonight. For a team that's been struggling to score goals, we looked like we were going to cut them open and on another night we could have had five or six. The girls stood up to every challenge that was put in front of them – the pitch, the press from Durham, the intensity of that.
On his team selection, and building confidence and relationships...
Look, it's really difficult, and it even changes during the game, obviously we lost Sophie Roman Haug, which hopefully that's not too bad but it didn't look good. Really hard to make changes within the game because we were just getting into the flow, I felt. The changes beforehand, we just want to try to gain some momentum and gain some confidence. We've had a tough run, we have finished this [and go] into the international break now with a positive, with a win. I think that was really important to make sure we finish with a strong win and take us into the break.
On advancing in the competition...
Hopefully. These competitions you know you have to win every game that's put in front of you and we'll have to do that against Sheffield United, unless we find out differently between their game against Sunderland. I think it's good to have points on the board, scoring a couple of goals, could have had more. Like I say, apart from Sophie Roman Haug, hopefully everyone's come through unscathed.
