Preview'Focused, play freely and go for goals' - Liverpool's plan for how to win at Crystal Palace
The Reds head to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon in an encounter between the only remaining unbeaten teams in the division.
It is the clubs' second meeting already in the campaign, arriving just shy of seven weeks since Palace pipped the champions on penalties in the FA Community Shield.
Previewing this latest affair, Gakpo told Liverpoolfc.com at the AXA Training Centre: "I think we are in a good moment. We put in a good winning streak and we hope to continue that one.
"Obviously we know how good they can be. We've played already, the last game of last season and obviously in the Community Shield. It's a very good team with a lot of quality. It's going to be a tough game.
"I think we just have to stay focused and play freely and go for goals, like we always try to do. Hopefully that will result in a win."
Digging deep and battling until the last second has been the theme of Liverpool's opening weeks of the term.
Those qualities may be required once more against a Palace team that have not suffered a defeat in their last 17 matches in all competitions.
Gakpo continued: "Belief is the start of something great and I think we have great belief in ourselves and in the team. I hope that it may continue.
"We also have that feeling on the pitch that somehow we will find a moment to create a big chance and hopefully score. That's what we are looking for all the time and that's what we will look for tomorrow again.
"Obviously in some games the quality is always important, but some games ask something different – like mentality, like maybe physical duels or something.
"We showed in recent games that we also have that part and we are very happy with that."
The Reds are without Hugo Ekitike for the trip to Selhurst Park due to suspension, though Arne Slot told reporters on Friday that Alexander Isak is available to start again after his debut goal in midweek.
The new No.9 opened his account with a clinical finish late in the first half of the Carabao Cup tie with Southampton at Anfield.
"That's obviously massive for him, as well as for us," Gakpo said of his fellow forward. "I think everybody knows how good he can be.
"We saw him in the Newcastle team scoring a lot of goals and hopefully he can do that for us as well. A very good player on the ball, off the ball. I'm very happy that he's here."
Ahead of the visit to south London, it was confirmed Giovanni Leoni suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in that 2-1 win over Saints.
The young defender is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines but will be well supported by his teammates throughout the journey back to fitness.
Gakpo offered: "It's always sad to see that something like that happens. We will try to be there for him as much as we can and to help him through this difficult period."
