Q&AFirst interview: Why Alice Bergstrom is 'really excited' to join Liverpool FC Women
Alice Bergstrom cannot wait to get going with Liverpool FC Women following the completion of her transfer to the Reds.
The versatile, right-sided Sweden U23 international has put pen to paper with LFC Women as their first addition of the winter, subject to international clearance and a work permit.
Bergstrom – who will wear the No.25 shirt – arrives on Merseyside having been a near-ever-present for Hacken as they were crowned 2025 Damallsvenskan champions.
Like new teammate Beata Olsson, the 22-year-old was recently rewarded with a first call-up to the senior Sweden squad.
And when Bergstrom visited the AXA Melwood Training Centre to complete a medical, sign her contract and conduct her first interview as a Red, she explained why Liverpool is the perfect club for the next stage of her career.

Alice, welcome to Liverpool. How excited are you to be here and to get started?
I’m really excited. I’ve been waiting a long time so it’s nice to be here.
We’re sat here at Melwood, which is a place with so much history. What have you made of it on your first visit?
I’m really impressed by everything. It’s so nice, the pitches and everything, so I think I’m going to be fine here.
How does it feel to be sat there wearing a Liverpool kit for the first time?
It feels good, a bit strange but I think I’m going to get used to it.
Describe your style of play for us, what can we expect to see from you on the pitch?
A lot of speed and power. I like to do one-v-ones and make a lot of crosses into the box, so probably that.
You sound like you’re quite a versatile player too, which is a great attribute to have…
Yeah, I’ve always played like a winger and this year I have played more like a full-back. So, I can play both.
You arrived here having just become a league champion back in Sweden with Hacken. That must have been a huge moment for you and a career high?
Yeah, it was amazing. We’d been working so hard for many years and it was amazing.
You are joining two fellow Swedes here at Liverpool in Cornelia Kapocs and Beata Olsson. You know them quite well, don’t you?
Yeah, I do and they talked so well about Liverpool – the city and the club – so they made me more excited to come here.
What did they tell you about life at the club?
The picture that I got [is] that it’s very friendly and that everybody is getting along so well, and they are having a really nice time. So that’s something that is important to me too, that you can hang out a lot with teammates.
That must be a big part of your decision too, because you are moving away from your family and home country to come here?
Yeah, of course, a really big part. You have to be happy outside of the football pitch too.
Speaking of your family, your dad is a lifelong Liverpool fan. What was his reaction when you told him you were coming here?
I think he was just so happy. It’s a dream for him that I get to play here and that makes it more special to me too, of course. So, just happy.
Looking ahead, you’ll get the opportunity to play at Anfield – would playing there in front of your dad be a dream come true?
Absolutely. It would be so nice to just feel that atmosphere and I heard so many good things about Anfield too, so that would be cool.
And off the pitch too, are you looking forward to exploring the city?
Of course. I’ve only heard good things about the city, that it’s very cosy and there’s a lot of things to do, and it’s close to the water too, so I think I’m going to be happy.
