News'A feeling I'll never forget' - Jordan Henderson thanks Liverpool fans for Anfield reception
The 35-year-old returned to the club he represented so brilliantly for a dozen years with Brentford for the final game of the 2025-26 Premier League season.
Henderson was given a standing ovation when he was substituted off midway through the second half and at full-time, as the crowd paid tribute to the former captain, who departed in July 2023.
He posted on Instagram: "Firstly, a big thank you to all the fans that have supported us throughout this season, although we are disappointed we didn't get into Europe I think it's a season to be proud of.
"We gave everything right until the very end. You have been amazing home and away and thank you for welcoming me to your club.
"I'd also like to thank the Liverpool fans for the reception they gave me yesterday.
"It meant a lot to me going back to Anfield and being able to say thank you for everything you gave me in my 12 years at the club. It's a feeling that I'll never forget.
"To be able to be there to see my two brothers, Mo [Salah] and Robbo [Andy Robertson], say goodbye and get the send-off they deserve was also special.
"We spent some amazing times together that I will cherish forever. I wish you both all the very best in your next chapters."
