LFC WomenFactfile: Get to know new signing Marie Höbinger
Marie Höbinger became Liverpool FC Women's sixth addition of the summer today – and you can find out more about her with our factfile.
The 22-year-old Austria international has put pen to paper on a deal with the Reds after spending the last 18 months with FC Zurich Frauen in Switzerland.

She is versatile. Höbinger can play in both midfield and as a striker but is seen predominantly as the former. She has featured in either role for both club and country – though for her nation is where she has often found opportunities as a forward.
Marie describes herself as an ‘ambitious’ player. She told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m really ambitious and really competitive. I think I am technically a strong player. I really like ball possession, moving the ball forward and creating chances. I like to play line-breaking, opening passes – I really like the offensive game.”

An established Austria international. Höbinger earned her first call-up for her country in late 2019. She has since scored seven goals in her 28 caps to date. She also represented her nation at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, which was held in England last summer.
She started her professional career in Germany. Höbinger began her youth career with ASV Hinterbrühl in Austria before making the switch to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam at just 13 years of age. She rose through the ranks to make her senior debut in the 2019-20 campaign, becoming a regular in the Frauen-Bundesliga in Germany.
A trophy winner. During her 18-month spell with FC Zurich Frauen in Switzerland, which began as an initial loan before turning permanent, she helped the club to lift two league titles and a Swiss Women’s Cup. Höbinger was also nominated for the AXA Women’s Super League Player of 2022.
Höbinger has Champions League experience. She was also involved in FC Zurich Frauen’s European exploits during her time at the club, with the Swiss outfit reaching the group stage of the Champions League to face the likes of Lyon, Juventus and Arsenal in recent seasons.
