NewsFabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott on Golden Boy shortlist

The prestigious annual prize recognises the top young performers in European football during the calendar year, with those born after January 1, 2002 eligible for this edition.

Once a month until October, 20 of the contenders will be removed, with a winner to then emerge from the final 20 remaining.

Among the initial 100 candidates for the accolade are Reds midfielder Elliott and Portugal U21 international Carvalho, who joins the club on July 1.

The winner will be decided by the votes of journalists from across the continent, while fans are also able to have their say by voting on the Tuttosport website.
