NewsExplained: Liverpool's Premier League title permutations
By Glenn Price
The Reds know victory in their next fixture – at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (April 27) – would definitely seal a record-equalling 20th top-flight title.
But there is a possibility first place could be secured in midweek as Arsenal are in action against Crystal Palace.
If the Gunners are beaten at Emirates Stadium in the 8pm BST kick-off, they would be unable to exceed Liverpool's current points haul of 79.
A draw on Wednesday would keep the title race mathematically alive, leaving Arsenal 12 points behind. The table-topping Reds do, however, currently possess a superior goal difference.
If that game ends even, Liverpool would then require just a point versus Spurs to be confirmed as Premier League winners.
