Liverpool FC Women's away trip to Tottenham Hotspur Women on Sunday saw the launch of a new initiative for supporters courtesy of the club's official travel partner, Expedia.

A coach provided by Expedia is providing free transport to fans for all of LFC Women's away matches outside of Merseyside in the Barclays Women's Super League this season.

On Sunday, the bus was fully booked as supporters made their way to the Breyer Group Stadium in London, with the 'Nothing Beats Being There' message displayed proudly on the vehicle wrapped in full club colours and crest.

A crowd of more than 2,000 included a large contingent of Reds urging on Matt Beard's side as they dominated the second half but eventually fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat.

The manager praised the travelling support in his post-match message on social media, writing: "Thank you to our fantastic travelling support and to Expedia UK for helping them get there!"

Those who used the service agreed the free transport was a huge success despite the result.

Jo Goodall, chair of Liverpool FC Women supporters club, was one of those who made the trip to London and said: "It's fantastic that the club have put on the coaches this season, and huge thanks to Expedia.

"We've got quite a good group now who go to the away games and we're trying to encourage more fans who don't drive to come along. It's a brilliant opportunity for fans to support the team.

"It can make a huge difference for them the fact we've got a lot of Reds singing in the crowd and making noise win, lose or draw."

Michele Rousseau, senior vice president of global brands at Expedia Group, added: "The away match experience begins the moment you start travelling, and our transport mean Expedia will be there every step of the way with Liverpool FC fans.

"We want to do all we can to enrich the experience that fans have while travelling to support the women's team this season."

Another supporter who made the trip south was Kerry Howard from Crosby, who travelled with members of her family.

She said: "We had a full coach, the atmosphere was brilliant. The back of it says 'we're on a mission to get fans to away games', which says it all really.

"We're in a tougher league this year, we know we're not going to win all the games but on to the next one."

LFC Women's next away match of the WSL campaign sees them visit Manchester City Women on Sunday October 30, with kick-off set for 2pm GMT.

To book travel, you must have a valid match ticket and the club's social media accounts will announce when the free transport can be booked through www.liverpoolfc.com/lfcwfreetravel.

It will be available to book for every away match in the 2022-23 WSL season.
