InterviewDominik Szoboszlai looking to make immediate impact in first Premier League season

The summer arrival from RB Leipzig is in line to make his competitive debut for Liverpool in the season opener away at Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Szoboszlai is feeling settled in the Reds squad after a beneficial pre-season programme and looking to deliver significant contributions in the campaign ahead.

"When I signed, from the first minute I was ready," the No.8 told Liverpoolfc.com at the AXA Training Centre.

"That's why I also came here – to help the team, to help the fans, to come back after a season like the season before to win trophies again.

"The guys gave me a really warm welcome, so from the first day everybody was open to help me. From here as well, thank you to them.

"In the training I try to do my best, in the games as well. So hopefully against Chelsea I can also do my best."

Although acknowledging the difficulty of starting the season with an encounter at Stamford Bridge, Szoboszlai insists testing himself against some of the best in the game was part of the attraction in making the switch to Anfield.

The midfielder continued: "Of course, the Premier League is the best league in the world and Liverpool is one of the best clubs in the world, so that's why I came. I want to achieve a lot with this team.

"Really looking forward and really excited to get started [after] a great pre-season with some games and minutes in everyone's legs. Really excited to get started."
