WatchDominik Szoboszlai: I'd never been nervous before Anfield – I'll be so proud to play there
Dominik Szoboszlai is counting down the days to playing at Anfield for Liverpool after the stadium left a lasting impression on him four years ago.
The Hungary captain today became the Reds’ second new recruit of the summer window by agreeing a long-term deal to join from RB Leipzig.
Before his two-and-a-half-year spell in the Bundesliga, the midfielder represented Red Bull Salzburg – including two meetings with Liverpool in the 2019-20 Champions League.
And while his former side that night were on the wrong end of a 4-3 result, Szoboszlai’s experience of Anfield has thoroughly whetted his appetite for much more with his new club.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: “This time made me feel bad because we lost 4-3! But of course, I’ve said it before, I’ve almost never been nervous before the game, I think this was the first time in my life.
“Of course the stadium, the fans were unbelievable even [though] they were against us [Salzburg]. And we will see how it is when they are with me.
“I heard that it [Anfield] is going to be bigger. Of course counting the days back because it’s a really proud time to get on the pitch in Anfield as a player for Liverpool.”
