ReactionDiogo Jota on 50th PL goal, message for Diaz and Forest win

The No.20 opened the scoring in the Premier League clash and marked the moment by raising a Reds jersey bearing the name of Diaz, who is in the midst of an ongoing family situation in Colombia.

Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were also on the scoresheet to give Jürgen Klopp’s men a third win in a row over the past eight days.

Read a summary of Jota’s post-match interview with Liverpoolfc.com below…

On three goals and a clean sheet on the day…

Especially the first half was really good. Obviously [in] the second half they tried to react and we tried to control the game. But in the end it’s a 3-0, so three points, we move [on].

On his goal being his 50th in the Premier League…

It’s always nice to score goals and obviously for me it’s really important. Especially today as well for Lucho. I was quite feeling that I was going to score; I actually played instead of him. We are all with him and it was an important moment for me, but for him as well. We’re all with him and I think it was a nice occasion to show him that.

On the solidarity shown for Diaz during the match…

It’s a situation we can’t even imagine if we [have not gone] through that same situation. All we can say is we are here for him and hopefully the things work out well in the end.

On how much he feels the Reds are getting back to their best…

A different Liverpool, like the manager has been saying as well, it’s like 2.0. Different players, different system, different way to play. We are just trying to do our best and things are working well for us. As long as that happens, everyone will be happy.

On the busy nature of the schedule helping to maintain momentum…

Yeah, when things are going well and you are winning games, it’s nice. We have a good team, we can make a lot of changes and still perform. We are still involved in a lot of competitions and we go for it. As long as we are winning, everything is fine.
