Reaction'A difficult afternoon' - Cody Gakpo's assessment of Liverpool's defeat at Brighton
The Reds were beaten as Danny Welbeck struck twice for the hosts at Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Milos Kerkez had scored an equaliser for the visitors on the half-hour mark but they were unable to respond again after Welbeck netted his second goal in the 56th minute.
See what Gakpo had to say in a post-match interview with TNT Sports below.
On the game....
Disappointed. Obviously we wanted to win, which is important in the situation we are in, but it didn't go that way. So, it was a difficult afternoon.
On being unable to follow up the win over Galatasaray...
That's frustrating. I think it's happened a few times already this season, so that's not good from our side. That's frustrating.
On whether he can 'put his finger on why that is happening'...
Not really. If we would know it then we would try to solve it but, like you said, it happened a few times already. So, we have to keep analysing that and to find maybe the spot that's hurting us in those moments.
On losing Hugo Ekitike early on in the game...
Obviously a big blow. I think everybody [can] see how well he's doing, so that's a big blow.
On what Brighton did to make it difficult...
I think they were just being themselves. I think everybody knows how good they can be on the ball. They try to play their own game and it worked out well in moments for them.
On the remaining seven matches of the league season...
I think we just have to approach every game that we have to win it. I think that's normal for a club this big and I think that's also what we're supposed to do in the situation we are in. We have to fight to win seven games.
