The Liverpool pair began their involvement in the tournament in the USA as Group D started, with Diaz completing the full game for his nation.
Colombia claimed a 2-1 victory over Paraguay in Houston thanks to goals from Daniel Munoz and Jefferson Lerma in the first half, before Julio Enciso netted a consolation effort in minute 69.
Brazil, meanwhile, played out a 0-0 draw against Costa Rica in Los Angeles, with Alisson involved throughout and keeping a clean sheet.
Colombia will return to action on matchday two when they face Costa Rica late on Friday night, while Brazil take on Paraguay in the early hours of Saturday morning.
