MatchChampions League: Potential Mo Salah milestones and more pre-Galatasaray stats

The Reds take on the reigning Turkish Super Lig champions in the second leg of their last-16 tie, looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit.

Club statistician Ged Rea has provided the following facts and figures ahead of the 8pm GMT kick-off.

Mohamed Salah can move into joint-third on Liverpool's all-time list of appearances in Europe, joining Sami Hyypia on 94.

The Egyptian's next goal will see him become the first African player to score 50 in the Champions League.

Liverpool are aiming to reach a 29th European quarter-final and their first in the Champions League since 2021-22.

The last time the Reds lost the away first leg of a European tie to a Turkish side was in 1976-77. They defeated Trabzonspor 3-0 in the Anfield return and went on to lift the European Cup for the first time.

On eight occasions Liverpool have lost the away first leg of a knockout tie in the European Cup by a one-goal margin. In five of those they have come back to win the tie, defeating Trabzonspor and Saint-Etienne (1976-77), Borussia Monchengladbach (1977-78), HJK Helsinki (1982-83) and Chelsea (2006-07).

The Reds have never lost three times to the same team in a single European campaign.

Liverpool have only failed to score in eight of their last 56 European outings and in three of the last 29.

The Reds have won six of their 12 Round of 16 second legs in the Champions League, with one of them ending in a draw.

Cody Gakpo's next goal will see him become the 58th player to score 50 times for Liverpool in all competitions and the second Dutchman to do so, after Dirk Kuyt.

All eight of Gakpo's goals this season have been scored after half-time.

Arne Slot has used 23 different players in the nine Champions League games of this campaign. Virgil van Dijk has played every minute.

Liverpool have won 20 of 29 penalty shootouts in their history, with four of those coming in six European ties.

Away from home in Europe this season, Galatasaray have lost four of their five fixtures, recording the victory at AFC Ajax (3-0) on matchday four. That is their only clean sheet in their last 16 away European matches.

They have not drawn any of their last 14 matches since a 1-1 against Atletico Madrid in January.

Only once in their last 12 outings have Galatasaray failed to score.

Victor Osimhen has seven goals in nine Champions League appearances this season. He needs one goal to equal the record of most goals for a Turkish team in a single Champions League edition.
