Get to know more about Liverpool’s latest recruit, Victor Munoz, with our factfile on the Spain international winger.

It has been announced that the Reds have agreed a deal to sign Munoz on a long-term contract from La Liga outfit Osasuna, subject to a work permit and international clearance.

The 22-year-old, who is currently on duty at the World Cup, will link up with new head coach Andoni Iraola’s squad ahead of 2026-27.

Here is his story so far…

Formerly of La Masia… Born in Barcelona, Munoz was on the books of the Catalan club’s famous youth academy for three years between 2014 and 2017, before opting for a different path by joining local side Damm, a renowned developer of talented young footballers and with whom he stayed until 2021.

Representing Real Madrid… Munoz’s progress caught the attention of Real Madrid scouts and a transfer was agreed for him to move to the capital in 2021. Rising through the ranks there, he starred for Los Blancos’ B team (Castilla) during 2024-25, supplying 18 goal contributions (11 goals, seven assists) from 34 appearances.

Having been named on the bench for the senior side in December 2024, his first minutes in the Real jersey came as a substitute in El Clasico of May 2025 at Camp Nou. He made one further league appearance and two at the subsequent Club World Cup before making another switch of team.

Breakout season at Osasuna… It was Osasuna who came calling ahead of 2025-26 to secure Munoz’s services, providing another significant step and a platform for him to rack up game time. He played 2,766 minutes for Los Rojillos throughout the campaign and tallied 12 goal contributions (seven goals, five assists), claiming La Liga’s official U23 Player of the Month award in both February and March and being shortlisted for the division’s U23 Player of the Season.

A range of skills... Analysis of Munoz’s attributes typically begins with references to his explosive pace, aligned with an adaptability to play on either wing. But there is an all-round nature to his talents, too, with his unselfish play on behalf of teammates and willingness to track back and contribute defensively frequently noted. “I think he’s a lad with enormous footballing potential,” said Spain boss Luis de la Fuente recently. “He’s shown with the national team, at the highest international level, that he’s ready to compete at that level too.”

Out on his own… Opta reported that Munoz delivered a singular feat across Europe’s five highest-ranked leagues during 2025-26. His 12 dribbles completed in an Osasuna match versus Rayo Vallecano was the most of any player in one game in that season.

A scorer on Spain debut… Munoz’s maiden opportunity at senior international level arrived in March 2026 – and he grabbed it. Introduced as a substitute in the 63rd minute of a friendly against Serbia, the forward sealed a 3-0 win just nine minutes later with a first-time prodded finish. “I’ll always have a special memory of this,” he reacted.

World Cup campaign… The Reds’ newest recruit is currently participating at the World Cup with his nation, who began their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Cape Verde on Monday for which Munoz remained on the bench. “Dreams that come true,” he said of being named in the Spanish squad for the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Making history… However he and his country go on to fare at this World Cup, Munoz has already carved out a personal piece of history. He was the first active player in Osasuna’s entire history to be named in a Spain squad for the World Cup. “You deserved this more than anyone,” said the club when his inclusion was revealed.

A birthday quirk… Munoz is the second senior player Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign ahead of 2026-27, following the announcement earlier this year that French defender Jeremy Jacquet would be joining the club from Stade Rennais. Coincidentally, the pair share the same birthday: July 13. Munoz (2003) is two years the senior of Jacquet (2005).

Footsteps followed… Munoz is the first man to join the Reds directly from Osasuna but will become the third player to have represented both clubs. Sammy Lee and Michael Robinson pulled on the shirt of the Spanish side during the 1980s after previously starring for Liverpool.
