Finalists in three of the previous four years, and winners on two of those occasions, the Reds enter the competition for this term next month.

The draw for round three is scheduled to take place on Sky Sports following the conclusion of the second-round clash between Grimsby Town and Manchester United.

Ties in the third round will be split across two midweeks due to European participation, with Liverpool’s game due to be held in the week beginning September 22.
