Calvin Harris explained how he happily received Virgil van Dijk’s orders to once again be the DJ on the team bus for Liverpool’s victory parade.

The superstar music producer first took on the role in 2022, when the Reds toured the city after lifting both the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup.

On that occasion, the Scot had coordinated the opportunity with compatriot Andy Robertson.

This time around, and with Arne Slot’s squad having clinched the 2024-25 Premier League title with almost a month to spare, Harris fielded a request – or rather demand – from the Liverpool captain.

“This started with Andy Robertson,” Harris told Liverpoolfc.com ahead of Monday’s title parade getting under way.

“I can’t remember how we first got chatting, I genuinely can’t remember that. It must have been some kind of Instagram thing, I probably liked one of his pictures or something like that.

“Then, I was travelling; it was Liverpool v Newcastle at St. James’ in 2022 and we bumped into each other, they were flying somewhere and we bumped into each other. Andy was like, ‘Do you fancy doing the [parade]?’ I went, ‘I suppose so!’

“And I think it was just an idea he just had sort of there and then. Then, one of the senior guys took over and made contact and made it happen.

“This year, Virg took the reins – I guess [being] captain and all that. He was more just like, ‘You’re doing the bus this year!’ [I said,] ‘Alright, I’ll be there!’”

A fan of the club himself, Harris’ association with the modern-day team preceded 2022 as a result of unusual circumstances.

His collaboration with Dua Lipa on the song One Kiss has become an adopted supporter anthem and celebratory tune since she performed it ahead of the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kyiv in 2018.

“It feels like it’s the most unlikely football song – a little sort of happy female vocal!” said Harris. “I love it, it’s amazing.

“I remember the cup finals and Wembley started blasting it when Liverpool won at Wembley. I was like, ‘Oh, it’s travelled now, it’s not just at Anfield.’ That’s when I knew it’s maybe got some staying power.”
