Curtis Jones can come back into contention for Liverpool when they make the journey to AFC Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The midfielder has now completed a three-match domestic suspension and is therefore eligible for selection in the 7.45pm GMT kick-off.

Meanwhile, Ben Doak has returned to training ahead of the fourth-round tie at Vitality Stadium, and will have his readiness for involvement assessed.

"He trained yesterday. Let's see [if he can be in the squad]," said assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders on Tuesday. "He trained yesterday [for] the first time, not completely but he trained."

Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley and Andy Robertson remain sidelined, however, with the quartet at varying stages of their injury recoveries.

"Conor is not in team training but he is getting really close, he is with the ball, he is doing all these things with [Andreas] Schlumberger and that looks promising," Lijnders said.

"It will be great to have him back because we know that he can be a really attacking threat on our right side.

"Robbo speaks for itself – he had his operation and that all went to plan. He is one of our captains, so that says I think enough.

"And with Stefan, he's not available at the moment and we're working with the medical team to discuss how we introduce him over the coming period.

"We really miss [Thiago] but that will take time, he will not be available. He is an unbelievable professional and an unbelievable guy. We hope to get him back soon."

Meanwhile, Bournemouth will have defender Marcos Senesi back available after he missed their Premier League win over Burnley last weekend due to injury.

They will, though, continue to be without the suspended Lewis Cook, while Mark Travers and Luis Sinisterra are cup-tied for the fixture.

Tyler Adams, Ryan Fredericks, Emiliano Marcondes and Neto all look set to miss out as well.

Head coach Andoni Iraola told reporters on Tuesday: "Injury-wise, [the] situation hasn't changed apart from Marcos Senesi, who will be back.

"We have enough players and we have strong competition in some positions in the squad. We need to see how the players recover from the game. Some of them are more tired than others but no-one ended injured and everyone is available.

"We take the decisions to go with the team best for this game, how they recover and how they fit our game plan."
