Arne Slot refused to be drawn on Liverpool links to Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, insisting "99 out of 100" transfer stories during the January window are baseless.

The Reds were named in connection with the Georgia international on Thursday evening, with the Premier League leaders reportedly ready to act if he leaves the Serie A side this month.

With Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo in competition for a place on the left side of the front three and Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota also capable of operating in the wide position, Liverpool appear well stocked for the role Kvaratskhelia plays for Napoli and Georgia.

While the admiration for Kvaratskhelia is understood to be long-standing at the club, a move for the 23-year-old has been suggested as unlikely by Anfield sources at this stage and Slot was quick to sidestep the question when it was put to him in Friday's press conference to preview Saturday's FA Cup visit from Accrington Stanley.
