NewsArne Slot provides update on Joe Gomez recovery

The defender has been sidelined for three months since sustaining an injury in the early stages of the Reds’ Emirates FA Cup exit away at Plymouth Argyle.

But Gomez was back in training alongside his teammates on Friday as Slot’s men prepared for the visit of Arsenal to Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

There are just two subsequent games remaining for the champions, who travel to Brighton & Hove Albion and then host Crystal Palace before the end of May.

“He is becoming closer and closer [to returning],” head coach Slot said of Gomez. “He is joining training sessions at the moment, he has been out for a long time.

“The last part of rehab is the hardest. I cannot guarantee it [that Gomez will feature before the end of the season] but he is getting closer and closer.”
