InterviewAndy Robertson: It's been a good run of late – but we have to keep going

Jürgen Klopp's charges are unbeaten in their last four Premier League outings and head to West Ham United on Wednesday night buoyed by back-to-back victories over Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

Robertson – who recorded his 10th assist of the season against Forest last weekend at Anfield – now wants the Reds to kick on in their remaining seven fixtures, believing it is up to the Liverpool squad to show their best selves.

"Part of preparing for the game is looking at the other team," the No.26 told Liverpoolfc.com at the AXA Training Centre.

"You look at how they can hurt us and where their strengths are and things like that. But ultimately, it's down to us. It's up to our application, it's up to our attitude and it's up to our skill on the day – of course it is. We have to bring the whole package and the last couple of games we've brought different packages, but packages enough to get the job done.

"It's been a good kind of run for us in the last couple of games and we have to try to keep that going because it's a lot easier coming in every single day when you've got the three points in the bag.

"We're expecting a really tough game on Wednesday, but it's one we're looking forward to and one we have hope for and one we look forward to being a part of. Hopefully, if we're at our best we can get enough to get the three points and bring them back up the road."

On the resilience shown against Forest to earn victory...

Yeah, it was very important. At times we've probably not dealt with setbacks as well as we should have done this season in terms of going behind in games, or getting equalisers against us and things like that.

So, Saturday was obviously pleasing from that point of view, taking the lead, you want to keep the lead, of course, and that's what we have to look at. But being able to get yourself in front three times in the game and then ultimately get the three points, that was the most important thing and that was what we set out to do.

On his assist against Forest and how he is feeling about his overall game...

Obviously the last couple of games have been pleasing in terms of the team result and in terms of individual performances. They've all been pretty high-level, obviously slightly changing formation, things like that, different roles within that for all of us. It's been good to adapt to that. It's been good to do something slightly different and the performances have been good for the last couple of games.

But we've known that this season consistency hasn't been our best friend and we need to try to find that and that's what we need to try to do from now to the end of the season. We have to keep going, we have to try to find our form again for going into next season. We have to leave this season behind with some sort of good feeling and the only way to do that is by getting a strong finish and that's what the lads are determined to do.

On trying to keep the momentum going now until the end of the season after four games unbeaten...

We have to keep it going. Of course we do, we have to try to keep up picking up points, keep trying to pick up wins and try to keep on improving on our performances. The performances of late have been relatively good and pleasing. And that's the main thing, we have to then turn that into points, which we've been good at the last four games, we're unbeaten [in] four, I think the Arsenal game, obviously we got off to a slow start, but I think we should have won it in the end. I don't think anyone could argue that. And then the last two we've managed to win, so we have to keep that going. We have to try to keep picking up points and see where we're going to end up. It's obviously out of our hands with what position we'll finish in this season, but all we can do is win football games and try to keep pushing that way and let's see come the last game of the season where we're going to end.

On expecting a 'tough' game against West Ham...

It's always a tough game playing against West Ham. They were probably in a relegation battle at one point, but they've managed to pick up results to get themselves out of that. They're obviously going well in Europe in the Conference League, and they've got a semi-final to look forward to. They've still got a lot to play for this season. The confidence will be high with them after a good European night and the feel-good factor is kind of back there just now with the results they've got, so it's going to be difficult. It always is. But we've got to be prepared, we've got to be ready to cause difficulties for them and to try to play our best game. If we do that then we believe that we can cause any team problems and that's what we aim to do on Wednesday night.
