Andy Robertson has been awarded an MBE for services to football, charity and young people.
The Liverpool defender has been acknowledged for his outstanding achievements in the game, as well as his commitment to making a difference off the pitch through his own charity.
After beginning his senior professional career with Queen’s Park, Robertson moved to Dundee United and then south to Hull City before signing for the Reds in the summer of 2017.
The left-back has since made 243 Liverpool appearances and been a key figure in the winning of a host of major honours, including Champions League glory in 2019, the Premier League title the following year and last season’s Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup successes.
Robertson – who is captain of the Scotland national team – has also scored eight goals for the Reds and recently became the defender with the most assists in the Premier League era by recording his 54th.
Off the pitch, his charitable efforts include launching the AR26 Charity, which aims to provide all young people in his home country with an equal start in life, in late 2020.
Its work involves free football coaching sessions, mentoring youngsters seeking opportunities in employment and education, and providing life-changing experiences to children and young people facing challenges, particularly critical health issues.
