Alisson Becker says Liverpool have a lot of things to improve following their 3-1 Champions League victory over Benfica.

The Reds earned a hard-fought win at Estadio da Luz on Tuesday night in the first leg of their quarter-final meeting with the Lisbon outfit.

Ibrahima Konate opened the scoring from a corner with his first goal for the club and Sadio Mane added a second before half-time.

Darwin Nunez pulled one back for the visitors as Jürgen Klopp's men defended resolutely, then Luis Diaz bagged late on to restore the two-goal advantage.

Extended highlights: Benfica 1-3 Liverpool

On a game of two halves in Lisbon…

I think only from the outside of the pitch, because the beginning was hard work for us. We went 2-0 up before half-time and we knew that in the second half they would fight for everything. They worked really well defensively and we made some mistakes and they scored a goal. They had their supporters then to help them because it was a great atmosphere here in the second half, but with the quality that we have, we could score the third goal that will help us for the next match.

Benfica 1-3 Liverpool: Jürgen Klopp's reaction

Press conferenceBenfica 1-3 Liverpool: Jürgen Klopp's reactionJürgen Klopp stressed Liverpool’s view that it is only ‘half-time’ after they moved into a 3-1 lead over Benfica in their Champions League quarter-final.

On facing a fierce crowd at Estadio da Luz…

They scored early in the second half and you know how it is in football, 2-1 and game on. They were close to scoring a second as well but we worked well defensively. We know that we have a lot of things to improve but we can now focus on the next challenge.

On Konate and his first goal for the club…

It's really important for us. He's a young player, a big talent with a lot of qualities. He is a good defender, a top guy and a really nice person as well. I'm happy to have him on the team and we can count on him as well to score goals.

On Trent Alexander-Arnold's vision…

Sometimes it looks as if he has got eyes on his back! He just gets the ball and puts it there. The diagonal ball for Luis was amazing, then the decision Luis had to give Sadio the ball – it was an amazing goal. Everyone can score in the team, that is good for us and we keep on going and get ready for the next one.
