Alexis Mac Allister cannot wait to display his versatile skillset for Liverpool in front of his new supporters at Anfield.

The Argentina midfielder today became the Reds’ first signing of the summer transfer window, arriving on a long-term deal from Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee.

Mac Allister links up with Jürgen Klopp’s team having made 112 appearances and scored 20 goals during his spell with the Seagulls, and as a World Cup winner with his country last December.

Shortly after inking his contract at the AXA Training Centre, the new No.10 sat down with Liverpoolfc.com to discuss the move and his aspirations on Merseyside.

Asked about the variety of roles he can perform in midfield, Mac Allister said: “Well, I’ve played almost in every position! And I think the managers who worked with me know that I can do it everywhere if they need me.

“As a player, I’m a player who tries to play as simple as possible, I try to help my teammates defensively or attacking. That’s the most important thing and I’m a team player and I will try to bring that to this club.”

Mac Allister faced the Reds at Anfield on two occasions with Brighton, helping his former club to draws in each of the past two seasons.

And he is eager to now begin building memories for Liverpool and experience the backing of Kopites behind him, adding: “Well, I have to say that I’ve got very good memories at Anfield – but hopefully the ones coming will be even better.

“I played for Boca Juniors and I feel like Liverpool is that kind of team where the fans are supporting the whole game. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of our fans and showing what we can do.”
