NewsAlexander Isak on his fitness and form, Liverpool fans and Barcola excitement

The Liverpool striker has netted three times so far in 2026-27, including a pair of outstanding finishes to secure a 2-0 Premier League win away at Ipswich Town last week.

Having had his debut season at the Reds interrupted by a long-term injury, Isak has begun all four matches so far this term and clocked up 332 minutes.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s league clash with Fulham, he explained why he is ‘feeling good’ but wants to ensure that is merely a platform for even better.

“Firstly, really good that the season has started again – obviously you miss it being away,” said the Sweden international.

“I’m feeling good with the pre-season and the start of the season as well, scoring a couple of goals. It’s just about keeping this rhythm.

“That [his display versus Ipswich] is how I want to play and that’s how I want to score goals. I was certainly happy with that. But as I said, it’s early days and I’ve got to keep going.

“I feel good, I feel like I’m in a good place. With the team as well, we’re getting better and better. We want to keep this rhythm.”

An unfortunate ankle injury that included a fibula fracture was sustained by Isak in the process of scoring a goal at Tottenham Hotspur last December.

Overall, he was able to start on only 13 occasions for Liverpool in the last campaign.

The No.9 insisted he tried to take out positives from a frustrating period of his career and detailed his appreciation for the support of Kopites along the way.

“It has been challenging of course, with a lot of injuries especially,” he said of the past 12 months.

“But there have been some beautiful moments as well, good learning moments. I take all of that as stuff to help me get better and get stronger, not looking back too much and just focusing on what’s ahead.

“[The backing of Liverpool fans] means a lot. Obviously, I’ve known and seen how brilliant the fans are at this football club.

“I was really excited about coming here and being a part of that relationship between the club and the players and the fans. You can really feel that. It’s really something valuable.

“It’s brilliant support all the time, even during difficult times for the team. They have been brilliant so far as long as I’ve been here.”

Isak was joined in the Reds’ starting XI by Bradley Barcola on Wednesday night for the first time since the latter arrived from Paris Saint-Germain.

And he is looking forward to the prospect of linking up with the No.29 regularly moving forward.

“Of course, it’s a big signing for us and he’s a great player that we all know very well from what he’s done previously,” said Isak.

“I’m sure he’s going to be someone to help make us much better as a team. So, we’re really excited.”
