Which of Liverpool FC’s outfield players would make the best goalkeeper? Who was his goalkeeping hero? And which of his Anfield teammates spends the most time in front of the mirror? Red goalie Caoimhín Kelleher reveals all…

What is it like to train with Alisson Becker?

It’s obviously really good and we have now been teammates for the last four or five years. So it's really good for myself to learn from him and to train with him day in, day out, and see the standards that he sets for himself, and how he goes about it. So it's obviously really good for me and it gives me a chance to learn.

How are you finding working with Arne Slot as your manager?

Yeah, it's been really good, really, really positive. I think everyone at the club is really enjoying this new work under the manager. Obviously it helped that we made a really good start to the season as well and got positive results, but I'm really impressed with him. It's been really enjoyable to see him get his new ideas across as well and I'm working hard to try to do the things that he wants.

Who was your goalkeeping hero and why?

I think Manuel Neuer [FC Bayern Munich and Germany] was probably the one for me growing up. Obviously he's been amazing now for the last 15 years or so, but he was one for me that I liked to watch when I was younger and try to emulate what he would do on the pitch. He is very comfortable on the ball, can play out, can start attacks for the team and he likes to come off his line as well and sweep up through balls. He comes for crosses too and is just a reactive goalkeeper, which is the goalkeeper I’ve tried to be as well.

Is there more focus on goalkeepers in the modern game?

No, I don't think I haven't personally noticed much change in the focus on goalkeepers. As a goalkeeper myself I always look to see how other goalkeepers are performing and I'm always giving praise to goalkeepers if they do well or if they have a good game. So from my perspective, I've not seen a difference, but maybe there has been from the outside.

Some clubs are now giving younger goalkeepers opportunities to be first choice. Why do you think that is?

Maybe it is down to the managers showing that trust in younger goalkeepers. I think maybe in the past there was a thought that the goalkeeper needs to have experience and needs to be more mature in his age and whatever. But definitely the last few seasons you’ve seen goalkeepers of 20, 21 being chosen to play, which I think is a good thing. It shows that the goalkeepers are more capable at that age as well.

Does every goalkeeper need to be good on the ball now?

I think that depends more so on the team you're playing for. At a team like Liverpool, we're one of the best teams in the league so we're going to have more possession, we're going to have more of the ball. So that obviously means there's also going to be less chances for the opposition. So I think at the moment playing for Liverpool you don't get much work as a goalkeeper but when you do you need to be there for the team.

How good is Ryan Gravenberch?

Ryan, as everyone has seen, has come in and has been brilliant. He’s been one of our stand-out players of the season so far. He's been excellent and has helped the team a lot. The whole team is really happy that he's doing so well and he’s given a good balance to the whole team.

Do you get on well with Dominik Szoboszlai?

I get along well with Dom, although he's always looking in the mirror, fixing his hair, which is a bit too much for me! No, he's a nice guy and we have some good fun in the changing rooms together. He’s a good guy and he has many attributes as a player. He's very skilful, he's got a very good shot as well and he's shown this season that he's going to score a few more goals, which is important.

What’s Szoboszlai like to play against in training given how well he can strike a ball?

He’s got a very good shooting technique, although I’d like to say he doesn't score often against me in training so that's another positive! No, I think he's probably one of the best shooters on our team. He really has a technique which makes it very difficult for us as goalkeepers. He hits the ball so quickly and so accurately, so it's not easy being on the end of his shots, to be honest. He can also run all day long as well, which is important for us as well.

Which outfield Liverpool FC player would be the best goalie?

Maybe Diogo Jota. He always gives out [banter] about the goalkeepers when goals go in and stuff so I'd just like to put him in net so he can find out how hard it is! I’d give trading places with him a go too because I played as a striker until I was about 13, but it might be too much running for me these days, to be honest!

Finally, which of your Anfield teammates would make the best manager?

Andy Robertson. He's quite loud in the changing room and gives the players motivation and stuff so maybe he'd be my choice to become a top manager.
