Zak Whitbread came through the Academy ranks to make seven senior appearances for Liverpool under Rafael Benitez.

<p>The centre-back from the USA achieved his debut in October 2004, playing all of a 3-0 win at Millwall in the League Cup third round.</p><p>Whitbread made two more starts in that competition and one in the FA Cup in the remainder of Benitez's first season as manager.</p><p>He then featured in two Champions League qualifiers early in the next campaign, and later added another League Cup appearance to his Reds record.</p><p>The defender spent time on loan with Millwall before joining them permanently in the summer of 2006.</p>
