Liverpool-born Tony McNamara made the short journey across Stanley Park to Anfield from Everton in December 1957.

<p>He had enjoyed a number of successful years at the Blues, with whom he had scored 21 times in 111 league matches.</p><p>McNamara went straight in to the side for the home game against Bristol City four days before Christmas and scored the Reds' second goal in a 4-3 victory.</p><p>That started a run of six successive matches and two more goals for the elegant winger, but he wasn't called on much in the final weeks of the campaign and subsequently left to join Crewe Alexandra.</p>
