A left winger, Tommy McLeod got noticed by Liverpool when he was playing army football.
McLeod featured three times towards the close of the 1946-47 season, the year when the Reds dramatically clinched the First Division championship by winning their final fixture 2-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers on the last day of May.
He had replaced Albert Stubbins in the Good Friday draw at Deepdale against Preston North End and then took over from Cyril Done for the Easter Monday return with Preston and also for the next home match against Sunderland.
McLeod wasn't called on at all the next season but had a run of four consecutive matches halfway through the 1948-49 campaign, his seventh and final game for the club coming two days after Christmas when Liverpool were beaten at home by Manchester United.
