Versatile defender Tom Chorlton was on Liverpool's books for several years in the first decade of the 20th century.

<p>But it was only in the latter part of his Reds career that he could claim to be a regular in the side.</p><p>Chorlton made just 12 appearances in his debut season and the next three campaigns saw him figure in only six, 14 and seven league matches respectively.</p><p>Picked at the start of the 1908-09 season, he made 35 appearances and was the only ever-present in the side the year after.</p><p>He started seven of the first 10 league fixtures in 1910-11 too, but then lost his place.</p><p>Chorlton was the club's penalty taker for a while and scored eight goals for Liverpool in a spell that spanned seven seasons.</p>
