Versatile defender Tom Chorlton was on Liverpool's books for several years in the first decade of the 20th century.

But it was only in the latter part of his Reds career that he could claim to be a regular in the side.

Chorlton made just 12 appearances in his debut season and the next three campaigns saw him figure in only six, 14 and seven league matches respectively.

Picked at the start of the 1908-09 season, he made 35 appearances and was the only ever-present in the side the year after.

He started seven of the first 10 league fixtures in 1910-11 too, but then lost his place.

Chorlton was the club's penalty taker for a while and scored eight goals for Liverpool in a spell that spanned seven seasons.
