Talented defender Tiago Ilori made just three appearances for Liverpool across three-and-a-half years with the club.

The London-born Portugal youth international signed for the Reds in September 2013 from Sporting CP, having progressed through the ranks of their academy.

That development included participation in the NextGen Series, with Ilori's Sporting claiming impressive home and away victories over Liverpool in the competition.

The centre-back's time on Merseyside proved less fruitful, however, and a senior debut did not arrive until January 2016, in an FA Cup third-round tie at Exeter City.

Loan spells with Granada in Spain, Bordeaux in France and Aston Villa in the Premier League had preceded Ilori's first-team bow as he sought to build up greater experience.

He featured twice more for the Reds in the FA Cup, but sealed a permanent move to Championship side Reading in January 2017 in the search for more frequent playing opportunities.
