Thomas Lowry was one of a number of reserve-team players Bill Shankly used in Liverpool's final league match of the 1964-65 season, away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

<p>Shankly and his senior players had their eyes on a much more significant event - the FA Cup final at Wembley against Leeds United only five days later.</p><p>Despite their inexperience, the much-changed team won 3-1 at Molineux that day.</p><p>Lowry, though, never played for Liverpool's first team again.</p>
