A teenage Ted Savage made a name for himself when he featured 96 times for Lincoln City between 1928 and 1931.

<p>The Third Division side were reluctant to let their prize asset leave, but after missing out on promotion he was eventually sold to the Reds in 1931.</p><p>The half-back made his Liverpool debut as an inside-left and his impact was instant. He notched twice in a 4-0 rout of Grimsby Town - a double that would prove to be his only goals in a red shirt as he played out the remainder of his Anfield career as a defender.</p><p>The only seasons when Savage could be considered a first-team regular were 1934-35 and 1935-36. He played in 27 of the 42 league fixtures in each season, but apart from that he was only occasionally selected.</p><p>His final appearance for the club came in an away game at Wolverhampton Wanderers on October 16, 1937.</p>
