Stephane Henchoz played more than 200 matches for Liverpool after Gerard Houllier swooped to sign the Switzerland international in 1999.
The Reds utilised a relegation clause in Henchoz's contract guaranteeing him an immediate release if Blackburn Rovers received a fixed offer.
The central defender was an extremely good man-marker, brilliant tackler and had a never-say-die attitude that inspired others around him.
Henchoz formed an excellent partnership at the back with Sami Hyypia for the Reds and played in 53 of the 63 games of the 2000-01 treble season - starting each of the League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup finals.
He continued to be an important and regular member of Houllier's squad until the Frenchman departed as manager at the end of 2003-04.
The arrival of Rafael Benitez in the dugout saw Jamie Carragher moved to centre-back, and Henchoz was rarely used during the opening half of the season.
Towards the end of January 2005, he left to join Celtic in Scotland.
