Ronny Rosenthal became an instant cult hero with an explosive start to his Liverpool career.
Recruited from Standard Liege in Belgium initially on loan in the spring of 1990, after only one reserve appearance he came off the bench for the Reds first team against Southampton.
His second game was against Charlton Athletic and this time he was in the starting line-up. Rosenthal scored three times that night, and four goals in the last six games of the season followed, with his contribution vital to Liverpool's championship triumph.
Rosenthal's good form saw his asking price rise but that didn't deter the club from tying up a permanent deal for his services in the summer.
That dream start did not, however, secure him a starting place the following season and Liverpool's club record of eight straight wins from the start of 1990-91 kept him firmly in the reserves.
Subsequent opportunities tended to be from the bench, though he made 20 starts in the 1992-93 season and provided a last-minute winner in the Merseyside derby at Anfield.
The Israeli stayed with the Reds until 1994; in January of that year he completed a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.
