Ron Jones made five appearances in Liverpool's forward line just before the Second World War.

<p>He scored on his debut in a 2-0 win against Manchester City at Anfield towards the end of March 1938 but that was his only goal for the club.</p><p>Jones replaced Berry Nieuwenhuys three times during the 1938-39 season.</p><p>They were the only matches that the South African missed that year and Jones never figured in Liverpool's first team again.</p>
