Rhys Williams climbed through Liverpool's Academy set-up to make a telling contribution in the senior team.

All of the defender's appearances at first-team level came during the 2020-21 campaign, when he helped Jürgen Klopp's side secure Champions League qualification.

Williams debuted with a start in a Carabao Cup third-round tie at Lincoln City in September 2020, which the Reds won 7-2.

More opportunities would come his way as injuries struck in the heart of the back line.

At the end of a challenging season, the centre-half started the final five games – all of which ended in victory – as Liverpool rallied to finish third in the Premier League.

Williams' journey with the club had begun at U10 level and he signed his first professional contract in February 2019, two months before enjoying success in the FA Youth Cup final.

He also had loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers, Swansea City, Blackpool, Aberdeen, Port Vale and Morecambe during his time as a Liverpool player.

Williams departed the club upon the expiration of his contract at the end of 2025-26.
