Neil Ruddock made more than 150 appearances for Liverpool across a five-year spell during the 1990s.

The no-nonsense defender, a colourful and sometimes controversial character, was recruited from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer of 1993.

Ruddock played 46 times during his debut season at Anfield, with a notable moment his second-half equaliser when the Reds came from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Manchester United.

There were 52 starts for 'Razor' in 1994-95, including at Wembley when Liverpool defeated Bolton Wanderers 2-1 in the League Cup final for his single piece of silverware with the club.

Injuries and form meant he would feature less frequently across the two campaigns that followed and Ruddock got only four chances to play in 1997-98.

His final outing for the club was a 3-0 loss away to Strasbourg in the UEFA Cup in October 1997 and he finished that season out on loan at Queens Park Rangers.

Ruddock joined West Ham United permanently that summer.
