Bangor-born Mervyn Jones made five appearances in Liverpool's forward line in the early 1950s.

<p>He figured three times towards the end of the 1951-52 season and then made one further appearance in November 1952.</p><p>Jones also played in one FA Cup tie for the Reds, the ignominious third-round defeat at Gateshead in January 1953.</p><p>He was transferred to Scunthorpe United in July 1953 and totalled 392 league games and 53 league goals in his career.</p>
