Les Shannon was a centre-forward who made his debut for Liverpool towards the end of the 1947-48 season.

<p>That chance came when he replaced Albert Stubbins for the home fixture with Manchester City in the April.</p><p>Shannon was selected for the first 10 games of the following campaign when Stubbins was unavailable because he went on strike, but was then himself replaced by Cyril Done.</p><p>His only goal for Liverpool was the first in the 2-1 win at Sheffield United on August 30, 1948.</p>
