Jon Otsemobor signed for Liverpool as a trainee on July 1, 2002 when he was 19 years old.
Gerard Houllier gave the young defender his debut when Southampton visited Anfield for a League Cup third-round match at the start of November 2002.
But he had to wait another year for his league debut, which came at Newcastle United. A week later, he retained his place in the starting line-up for the home top-flight fixture with Southampton.
He was one of the few Reds players to emerge with any credit from the game because Liverpool's 2-1 defeat was one of their worst performances, certainly at home, during the whole of Houllier's reign.
After four league appearances in 2003-04, Otsemobor never played again for the first team after being substituted in the first half during an away match at Manchester City.
While at Anfield he was loaned out to Hull City, Bolton Wanderers and Crewe Alexandra but he finally made a permanent move when joining Rotherham United on a free transfer during the summer of 2005.
