John Jones was Liverpool's reserve goalkeeper during the 1924-25 season.

<p>Elisha Scott had been firmly established as the club's last line of defence for many years but when the big Irishman missed four matches, three in November 1924 and one in April 1925, Jones stepped in to cover for him.</p><p>He conceded six goals in those three November games but finally kept a clean sheet in his fourth and final appearance for the club, a 1-0 home victory over Tottenham Hotspur on April 18, 1925.</p>
