Joe Keetley was living a dream when he signed for Liverpool in November 1923.

<p>He had only joined Accrington Stanley five months earlier on a free and, after scoring eight goals in 13 appearances, he was sold to the league champions for a four-figure sum.</p><p>Keetley made nine appearances in the Reds first team during the 1923-24 First Division season.</p><p>He was first selected for an away game at Ninian Park, Cardiff on the Saturday before Christmas 1923 and then kept his place for the next four matches, scoring his first goal for the club in a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United on Boxing Day and then netting against Chelsea at Anfield on New Year's Day 1924.</p><p>Keetley left Liverpool after 18 months.</p>
