Jimmy Gray played for Transvaal in South Africa for five years before joining Liverpool in 1926.
The Scottish full-back made just one appearance for the Reds, in the third league fixture of the 1928-29 season. A late goal by Dick Edmed was not enough to prevent Liverpool going down 2-1 at home to visitors Sheffield United.
He is remembered as one of Exeter City's best ever players, part of the side that finished runners-up in Third Division South. He played 221 games for Exeter from 1930 to 1936.
