Centre-forward James Henderson signed from Annbank in August 1893 but only played one game for Liverpool.

<p>That appearance came within a fortnight of his arrival and was at least a landmark fixture for him to be involved in: the club's first in the Football League.</p><p>Henderson helped Liverpool mark their Second Division bow with a 2-0 victory on the road at Middlesbrough Ironopolis.</p>
