Jackie Sheldon was a winger who joined Liverpool from Manchester United in the November of the 1913-14 season.

He missed just three league fixtures in what proved to be an impressive debut season, also featuring in all eight of the FA Cup ties as the Reds reached their first major final.

But there was great disappointment for all concerned at the club after the single-goal defeat by Lancashire rivals Burnley.

In 1914-15, the last full league campaign for four years, only Jimmy Nicholl made more appearances and only Fred Pagnam and Tom Miller scored more goals than Sheldon.

World War I would interrupt his Anfield career, with his last appearance for the club coming against Derby County on April 16, 1921. He retired due to injury.
