Jack Haigh was a Yorkshireman who signed for Liverpool in October 1949 when he was 21 years old.

<p>He had to wait until Boxing Day 1950 before being given his league debut, when Blackpool visited Anfield for a First Division fixture.</p><p>Haigh scored in the next match (a 2-1 victory at Derby County) and hit the net three times overall in the seven matches for which he was selected during the second half of the 1950-51 season.</p><p>He made three further appearances towards the end of the 1951-52 campaign without adding to his goals total.</p><p>He was transferred to Scunthorpe United before the start of the following season. He's a legend at Scunthorpe, playing 329 league games and scoring 65 goals.</p>
