<p>His debut for the club came in a home fixture with Sheffield Wednesday on February 15, 1913 and he then scored his only goal, also at Anfield, when Derby County were the visitors two weeks later.</p><p>Welfare played in the next match at Tottenham Hotspur, but only figured once more in the first team, when Liverpool lost at home to Manchester United on March 29, 1913.</p>
