Fred Finney was one of 38 players who represented Liverpool during the 1945-46 season.

<p>The campaign came shortly after the end of the Second World War when numerous clubs had 'guest' players, and as a result the fixtures are not usually recognised in official records and were therefore played in the Football League (North) and not the national First Division, which resumed in 1946-47.</p><p>However, the FA Cup continued as usual - although over two legs - and it was in the third-round tie with Chester in January 1946 that Finney made his only competitive appearances for the club.</p>
